The anti vaccine thread should stay. The mandates were an atrocity and all discussion of them is being supressed.

Agreed.
Impressive feat of internet-ing that this time you managed to clear your cache before agreeing with yourself. You forgot to a few times while yelling in the meta posts...

You are delusional. I also agree with OP. I never wanted to take the vaccine and it was forced on me. Then I had a side effect and couldn't talk about it.

Sure thing, schitzo. Enjoy talking to yourself...

What could be more ogreish than believing a thread about the death of a young man is about one's dingbat political position?
It's crazy to think that this is political and reflects rather poorly on you. Some of us are concerned about the university damaging the health of their students, it's really that simple.
The vaccination thread eased the burden on the "tragic death" thread
Unless, or until, subforums are implemented, it would be a good idea to keep lightning rod threads around, regardless of content.
This would not just be for social/cultural/political hot buttons, but for non-mathematical theoretical physics, unpublished Riemann hypothesis work, left-handed Lithuanian L-function specialists, etc.
And I repeat the suggestion of a rate limit on repeated content.

Translation: if someone behaves like a total raging asshole, then we should find a way to not hurt their feelings by banning them, but instead give them someplace to act as antisocial as they want. The DarkMJR episode shows how that ends.
Free on-topic speech is great, but rage-posting about your pet political grievance in an unrelated thread about an actual human being dying is beyond despicable.

I would have more sympathy for this position if the last three years did not happen.

Please point me to the thread about Lithuanian L function specialists if it still exists. I have much to say about them and I am disappointed to hear I missed any discussion.

I showed up around the time DarkMJR got implemented, and immediately started suggesting shutting it down. I also like the idea of topical subforums. You have much more ammo for moderation and much more expectation for reasonable behavior with subforums in place.
That secondary thread for vaccine nuttery provides a temporary outlet when the standards fall all the way down to don't disgrace the dead. No one is suggesting one of those subforums become a no-holds barred anonymous forum, because such a place immediately fills up with absolute garbage, attracts more garbage, which then leaks over to useful forums. Exactly as we saw within a day with DarkMJR.

There's tons of horrible injustices/annoyances in the world, not only in the last three years but everywhere, all the time. There are plenty of online outlets for you to complain about them with like-minded companions. We don't need to read about it here.
