I hope no one heckles you when one of your loved ones passed away vlnb
Cute that you think that he has loved ones.
whoever said vaccine is an f'ing idiot.
So aside from being a Top Mathematician you’re also an expert on immunology? You got your information from the mass media and social media, just like the antivaxxers, only from a different segment.
A segment packed with idiots and lemons with an axe to grind against "the system".
If you have a question about a field you don't know, do you go to people with multiple top 5s in that area or do you go to Smarandache? Does that mean you think the former can never be wrong?

Imagine thinking mainstream media is higher-IQ than covid skeptic sites.

While cranks usually have an axe to grind against "the system", the converse need not be true, because in any system, there are perverse incentives, and in some systems these are nearly fatal. Unless you have good reason to believe that the norms and incentives of a particular system are well-aligned, it is not unreasonable to be skeptical. See for example the replication crisis.
Concerning the question of vaccine mandates and the tragedy being discussed, we have no idea whether this post-doc died of a heart problem or something else. However, we do know that both live covid and the vaccines increase risk of myocarditis. Moreover, last time I checked, the studies showed that in young men and for certain types of vaccines, the increase is greater from the vaccines than from a live infection.
So without further information on the cause of death, bringing up the vaccine mandates seems inappropriate. On the other hand, if one knew that the post-doc died of complications of myocarditis, then it would not be unreasonable to bring up the expected value of the vaccine mandates.

Read the IQ literature. There are some prominent exceptions of smart skeptics, but most people, skeptic or not, adjust their media to their prior beliefs, not the opposite. And authorian nativism correlates with lower IQ.

The refusal of authorities to address in any way the cost/benefit, including (among other things) the heart risks to men, make this an appropriate question to raise when young men die of unspecified heart problems. Not clear whether it is more tasteless to hijack a death notice thread, or to suppress discussion considering the possibility that a lot of such deaths may be a form of murder-by-government.
On the other hand, if one knew that the post-doc died of complications of myocarditis, then it would not be unreasonable to bring up the expected value of the vaccine mandates.
It's precisely in the case the suspicions are correct that we will not be told they were correct in the form of detailed cause-of-death analysis on heart attacks. So the "must have definite knowledge it's myocarditis" is not the reasonable standard for public discussion.
So without further information on the cause of death, bringing up the vaccine mandates seems inappropriate. On the other hand, if one knew that the post-doc died of complications of myocarditis, then it would not be unreasonable to bring up the expected value of the vaccine mandates.
Why would bringing up mandates be appropriate? Basic respect aside, we have no idea whether this person took the vaccine because of a mandate or for sociological reasons. The latter seems at least if not much more likely.

I understand why you want to respond, but trying to reason with this lunatic legitimizes his insistence that this particular thread is an appropriate place for this discussion to take place. Out of respect for the dead, this whole thread needs to be nuked into outer space.

You either have a poor memory or a poor education. How many times did mainstream media flip-flop on the recommendation for something as simple as masking? Until Walter Cronkite broke ranks, mainstream media had been misleading the public on the actual state of war in Vietnam. Until election night in 2016, mainstream media had been reassuring everyone that there’s not a chance on earth Trump would win. Mainstream media was even oblivious of its own impending demise from social media until more than 50% of print and news media went bust.
You are low IQ if you think mainstream media is high IQ.

All true, which was the point of the comment you quoted.
Why are mandates OK? Repealed in Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, not required in most of Europe, but forced in US. And apparently I'm the one making it political...
This is from a soon to be nuked thread. Unfortunately the vaccine fanatics made it clear they want the discussion to continue here. So be it.
Argue here please: https://mathjobrumors.com/thread/4625/page/1
This is a truly ghoulish place to argue politics.
