The most hilarious part of the famous one was the anachronistic portrayal of Bertrand Russel as a kindly modern day liberal. In fact, his views on (for example) race and nuclear war were rather too complex for him to have survived modern academia.
Wikipedia equivocates about the views on race, saying his ideas changed over time, but citing only the later opinions. But there is no link to his earlier statements. What were his positions on the matter? There are lots of political questions where late-Russell and early-Russell said opposite things.
As far as I understand, early Russell was concerned about eugenics, late Russell was concerned about political instability caused by race hatred. These are not necessarily contradictory. There are meaningful differences between races, and while that does not justify mistreatment, it suggests that identical treatment may prove impractical.

It seemed that Wikipedia was obfuscating Russell's early views. It would be interesting to know if early Russell wrote anything about race differences. He is an interesting case because there is a cult of sainthood around him but any race stuff would have gotten him cancelled if known.
