No, honestly nobody cares (even most of faculty where you do the postdoc). Many tt placements are definitive on the other hand.

I took it to mean the candidates withdrew from consideration, having taken other jobs.

it's interesting to me because we don't know where these people ended up, only that they withdrew. that info would have been leaked from the hiring committee and not the candidate. strange coincidence it's all at MSU
